Reback in Progress

Description:
Books most commonly become damaged at the joint, where the cover repeatedly flexes as it opens and closes, and along the spine. A “rebacking” is a common book repair technique for reattaching the spine piece and cover. In a rebacking, new cloth, paper, or leather is attached along the spine and onto the boards, beneath the original material.
