Shelf Life Preserving the Library’s Collections

Sewing Tools

Description:
Sometimes the sewing thread of a book has broken in one or more places, or is missing, and has to be repaired or resewn so that pages won’t detach. Special needles and thread are needed to repair this kind of damage, and 100% linen thread is used because of its strength and durability. Several different thicknesses are kept on hand in order to select one that is appropriate to the book’s weight, and to the strength of its paper.
