Employment and labor: from the Lavender Scare to Zarda
In our society, most people must work and make money to pay for housing, food, clothing, and anything else they might need or want. But what would happen if you cannot work, or if you were to be fired for being an LGBTQ person? From lawsuits in the 1950s to hearings on discrimination in the workplace, this case highlights some of the successes and failures that have allowed LGBTQ people to find and hold jobs without being discriminated against, as well as efforts to restrict firing someone solely on the basis of sexual orientation/gender identity.
