Description:
Heredia y Sarmiento’s map—printed alongside his brother’s sermon, which celebrated the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1531—shows the towns and lakes that surrounded México-Tenochtitlan prior to the encounter with Europeans. The map is inverted; the southern part of the Valley of Mexico is at the top.
