"Plan of Yerba Buena"

Attribution:
Jean Jacques Vioget
Date:
[1839]
Description:
Surveyor Jean Jacques Vioget laid out this plan of Yerba Buena (San Francisco) in 1839. It shows not only his plots of land, but also those of other prominent individuals, including Jacob Leese, Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, William Richardson, and John Fuller. The map shows the land south of the Presidio (on the right side) and was used as evidence in two land cases, where information regarding the “present” streets and “portion of the present plaza” were added.
