Luis Ignacio “Nacho” Gómez Arriola, a multifaceted Mexican artist born in Guadalajara in 1955, has excelled as an architect, restorer, writer, painter, and sculptor. As a founding member of Taller Gráfica de Comala, an artisan printing workshop, Gómez Arriola has been instrumental in preserving traditional printing techniques while exploring contemporary artistic expression. His notable works include Amoxtli o códice sobre la danza ritual de México (or Amoxtli or the codex on the ritual dance of Mexico), a hand-printed, illustrated typography letterpress book, and Monarca: El milagro de la mariposa viajera: Patrimonio mundial (or Monarch: The miracle of the traveling butterfly: World heritage), an artistic book exploring the migratory monarch butterfly.
Taller Gráfica de Comala Taller Gráfica de Comala is a creative space dedicated to producing books and printed materials using traditional graphic-art techniques.
